Ignacio Lugones,

Ignacio is a distinguished Pediatric & Congenital Cardiac Surgeon with a Ph.D. in Medical Sciences. He is the pioneering force behind AVaTAR MedTech’s innovative surgical method and the development of our cutting-edge medical devices for semilunar valve reconstruction.

He holds specialist credentials from the Argentine College of Cardiovascular Surgeons and the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Buenos Aires. His surgical training was honed at the prestigious Buenos Aires Children's Hospital "R. Gutiérrez" under the mentorship of Dr. Guillermo Kreutzer.

As a recognized expert in pediatric cardiac surgery, Ignacio has built a reputation for his proactive and innovative approach to complex congenital heart diseases. His contributions to the field include pioneering treatments for conditions such as scimitar syndrome, atrioventricular septal defect, tetralogy of Fallot, aortic valve diseases, pulmonary valve regurgitation, and single ventricle anomalies. He is also an esteemed author, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals, and serves as a reviewer for leading international medical journals.

In 2017, Ignacio earned his Ph.D. in Medical Sciences from Favaloro University in Buenos Aires. Following his leadership in congenital heart surgery at the same institution, he returned to the public sector, where he currently serves as the Head of Cardiac Surgery at the Children's Hospital of Buenos Aires "Dr. Pedro de Elizalde." His unwavering commitment to his patients, especially those lacking therapeutic options, led him to innovate a surgical method designed to save lives.

Additionally, he developed a set of medical devices to standardize this method, with the goal of empowering cardiac surgeons worldwide to replicate his life-saving techniques.
